Problem:
Applied Bioplastics supplies economically sustainable plant-based plastic
alternatives supporting eco-friendly agriculture in developing countires.
The Founder and Marketing Director wished to discover who of their audience
would be interested in becoming early investors in their materials revolution.
Solution:
An Indication of Interest campaign was initiated and set to last for one
week. I hand-crafted a template used for both the opening and closing of the
campaign utilizing the brand
styleguide, a custom-made gif, and following best practices to create a concise and
cohesive, responsive
template. I tested the template extensively to ensure
accessability across dozens of ESPs and optimized for each accordingly utilizing
tactics such
ghost tables, "bulletproof" buttons, and dark mode optimization.
Impact:
With a focus on engagement I found a high CTR of 8.0% and 10.1%
indicating great interest in the company and the campaign. Campaign

The unsubscribe rate and bounce rate sat quite high at 2.5% and 9.2% respectively,
which isn't
surprising considering many
of the unsubs came from
in-person sign ups. It's likely expectations were not set for subscribers via
a welcome email, or previous marketing emails.
Overall, Applied Bioplastics reported satisfaction but were unable to tell which
conversions came from their own marketing channels or
my email campaigns with the exception of those who replied directly to the emails.
